Aberystwyth 4-5 Airbus UK Broughton
WELSH PREMIER LEAGUE U19 LEAGUE
Airbus made the long journey to Aber and were tested in the opening minutes by the home side. Having weathered Aber’s opening the Wingmen took control and on 10 minutes Lee Jones fired a ball into the box where the home defender deflected it home. Five minutes later the scores were level when the home side broke down the middle and a shot was deflected past the stranded Josh Atkin. Airbus responded with a passage of excellent football and a fine cross from Jordan O’Brien found Tom Littler breaking through the home defence. Tom produced a superb chip over the advancing keeper to restore the visitors lead. Almost immediately it was three when Lee Jones drove home from the edge of the box. The game ebbed and flowed and Aber pulled one back on 31 minutes. Another own goal, this time the unlucky Chris Thomas deflecting a cross into his own net. The visitors picked up the pace but the home keeper proved a match for great drives from Connor Boyle and Jordan O’Brien.
HT 2 - 3
The second half saw Airbus push forward and create a host of chances, Ben Williams and Connor Boyle both being thwarted by the inspired home keeper. Aber showed they were not about to give up when on 70 minutes they broke through the visitors defence but an agile Josh Aitkin pulled off a great save. Airbus returned to attack and peppered the home goal without success, one notable effort from Ben Evans seemingly destined for the top corner producing the save of the match. Just when it seemed there would be no further score there was a 5 minute explosion of goals. On 86 minutes Lee Jones raced onto a massive clearance from the keeper Atkin to lob the home keeper and increase the lead. In the 88th minute Jordan O’Brien seemingly sealed it for Airbus breaking through three tackles before smashing home from 10 yards. Amazingly Aber rallied and managed two goals in injury time, leaving Airbus relieved to hear the final whistle. Great game, great result.
